Bob Walker Photography Exhibit at Oakland Museum

Bob Walker was a passionate defender of Bay Area open space and a brilliant landscape photographer with an amazing eye for light and shape. A former chair of the San Francisco Chapter of the Sierra Club, Bob was also a co-founder of the Gay and Lesbian Sierrans. His death from AIDS in 1992 at the age of 40 was a tremendous loss. But his photos carry his vision into a new century. This coming spring, the Oakland Museum will present After the Storm: Bob Walker and the Art of Environmental Photography. The show, an expanded version of the exhibit this fall at the San Francisco Art Commission Gallery, runs from March 3 through June 24. And while you're at the Museum, take a look at California Species: Biological Art and Illustration, a juried exhibit of recent portrayals of California native species in a variety of mediums.
