Last Chance at Sugarloaf Ridge?

Saturday, March 31, 2012
10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Join Bay Nature and Volunteers in Parks docents for a hike through Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, one of the 70 state parks slated for closure -- and one likely to be rescued by local organizations and volunteers,

Vista Loop with Optional Trip to Ceremony Tree

We will hike the Vista loop, beginning with the Lower Bald Mountain trail, a gradual uphill walk under a canopy of oaks, manzanita, and madrone.  We continue a short distance on Bald Mountain trail, ascending to the aptly named Vista trail for views of the surrounding hills. At Headwaters trail, we may take an optional side trip to a large maple known locally as the Ceremony Tree. Returning to the Vista trail, we complete our hike by descending the Gray Pine trail and then following the Meadow trail.

This moderate hike is a total of 5 1/4 miles with an elevation gain of about 900 feet (4 1/2 miles, 700 foot gain without the Headwaters addition).

Meet us at the main day use parking lot located on the left just beyond the entrance kiosk.  Please remember to bring hats, water and a lunch or snack.

Attendance limited, RSVP required. Call or email with the number of people in your party. Contact info listed below.
