Las Trampas Regional Wilderness
This remote and rugged park provides an expansive trail system for hikers and equestrians, and rewards them with stunning views from its peaks.
3964 acres
Open access
Contra Costa County
Managed By: East Bay Regional Park District
Las Trampas Regional Wilderness consists of two long, hilly ridges separated by Bollinger Canyon. On the west, Rocky Ridge's tree-dotted hilly grasslands are decorated with wildflowers in spring, and its ridges offer panoramic views. To the east, Las Trampas Ridge is chaparral habitat, and its trails are more exposed. The trail system offers hikers connections to EBMUD watershed lands (with a permit) to the west, and The Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site outside Danville. The park also includes an overnight group campsite, although water availability is unpredictable.
Visit East Bay Regional Park District's page for this park, and find out how to get there at TransitandTrails.org's Las Trampas Regional Wilderness page.
