San Pedro Valley County Park is a park for all seasons. In winter and early spring, manzanitas and early wildflowers like slinkpods, milkmaids, flowering currants, and trilliums decorate the trails, and 175-foot Brooks Falls is at its fullest as it spills in tiers down a hillside. As spring peaks, a variety of wildflowers bloom in the park’s meadows. In summer and fall, when other places are baking, the nearby ocean keeps temperatures milder here. The park’s rich diversity of plants and habitats supports abundant wildlife from birds to mammals. And on clear days, the views from the upper trails stretch from Marin to San Mateo County and out into the Pacific. Seven trails covering about 10 miles offer opportunities for flat and easy to relatively steep and strenuous hikes. Facilities include picnic areas and a visitor center (open on weekends only) with exhibits showcasing the park’s natural features and a bookstore.
