Mori Point Restoration
Produced by Rick Bacigalupi, with production assistance from Daniel Okamura
Restoration efforts at Pacifica's Mori Point focus on reclaiming native plant habitat lost over the years to a maze of informal trails and on creating the mix of wetland and grassland habitat necessary to support two endangered wildlife species: the San Francisco garter snake and the California red-legged frog. Construction and maintenance practices of adjacent Sharp Park Golf Course pose a threat to the endangered reptile and amphibian, and wildlife protection proponents hope the golf course can someday be transformed back into habitat for the two species.
We took a group of Bay Nature readers to Mori Point in May 2009 as part of our hikes program.
